Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Salt Waste Process Facility (SWPF) Associate Chemist or Chemist to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

The SWPF Associate Chemist or Chemist provides technical oversight and subject matter expertise for laboratories.  Provides day-to-day support and analytical oversight of instrument and method development and troubleshooting.  Contributes to general improvement initiatives such as procedure/method development, technician skill enhancement/training, data review, error free reporting and/or integrated safety management systems. 

Responsibilities

  • Takes required safety and technical trainings necessary to work in assigned laboratory.
  • Follows analytical methods, plans and conducts lab tests in assigned area per laboratory administrative procedures.
  • Validates, and verifies analytical methods in assigned analytical area per laboratory administrative procedures.
  • Performs installation (with vendor when necessary), maintenance, troubleshooting of the assigned instrument, software, and laboratory facilities.
  • Writes technical procedures in accordance with validated analytical methods.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional responsibilities at the Chemist level:

  • May function as the person-in-charge for preview/review of the safety and hazard controls in different laboratory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science from an accredited college or university.

 

Additional information:

  • Candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position level commensurate with their experience and qualifications.
  • The use of protective clothing and respiratory equipment is required when working in a radioactive environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in chemistry or related science from an accredited college or university.
  • Current SRMC employees preferred.

Minimum Pay

USD $60,600.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay

USD $121,100.00/Yr.
